help out an eejit
being mr thicky pants when it comes to all things "bike"....
how can i tell if my tyre is squared off? is it a visual thing? a touchy feely thing? TIA |
look at them from about 2m and you will see if they are rounded or square
|
rub your flat hand across the tyre. You can soon feel the change in radius.
|
Look at the tyre, if you think to yourself "oh, that tyre looks a bit square" then it's squared off, otherwise it's not.
It's not a complicated thing to figure out, if you can't decide if it is or not then it isn't. |
Compare with a handy car tyre.
|
Compare the tread at the centre with the tread nearer the edges. If the centre tread is significantly worn compared to the outside tread then you're squared off.

What you need are th following:
1 x Sticky back plastic 2 x Squeezy washing up bottles 1 x Ball of string 1 x Long empty kitchen towel tube Construct a measuring device that will enable you to accurately measure the change in curvature of the tyre. OR Have a look from about 2 meters. :D Hey it's Friday so I'm allowed to be Mr Smart ****! |
