Dogbones and 636 shock
I have a set of shorter dogbones, I also have a ZX636 shock to fit to my curvy trackbike. But am unsure if to fit both at the same time, or if just to fit the shock. Has anyone changed both?? Anyone see any potential problems?

Whack 'em both on if you can. Mate of mine has tried but I think he had to put the stock dogbones back on to get it in. If you can use the shorter ones, then do so.
Not sure if anyone has settings for this yet, my mate will be on a track day with me in a couple of weeks and I need to go over his setup anyway, so will write it all down and let you know if it'll help. |
Haggis has just done this, fitted some dog bones off ebay with his ZX6 shock. Suppose the effect / fitment will be dependant on how much shorter your dog bones are than stock?

Yes, do it if your front end is sorted too.
The bike is handling the best I've ever felt it. In a word - confidence. Got to the edge of my tyres for the first time yesterday, fitted dogbones last Friday. All this on unfamiliar roads over a 240 mile trip on the way to Knockhill. What does that say about it?!!! I was having a great time leaning, and then again with a bit more speed and a bit more lean, and then oh my god...it goes further!!! Much euphoria in my lid, until my reg-rec fried itself and it was game over.... The dog-bones I fitted were not as extreme as some other folk on here have used. Only 3 or 4mm shorter, but combine that with the slightly longer Kwak shock and it's probably about the same goemetry as the SRAD shock gave me previously. The problem was it wallowed and bucked unpredicably, more so compared to the front after fitting the ohlins fronts. |
I went for the Ohlins wallet-bggering option (with full ride height adjustment) but also have shorter dogbones - you probably now have the same sort of effect as me of being able to change line mid-corner by swilling tea around in your gob. You can get away with jacking the back end up a fair bit. Any chance of sharing your suspension settings with us?

Re. settings: I put them up last week or so, but they'll have changed a wee bit since I put the bones on, saying that I didn't change anything afterwards....just got out and rode the wheels off the damn thing!!! I will take a tape measure out to it in the next few days. Found the post....click here |
Top man - sag is a bit big for my liking (don't start that one again), but thanks for the info, will let you know if we figure out something different.
