fitting LED flush mounted indicators
Ive just bought LED flush mounted front indicators for my K5s and i can fit them.....But they flash to fast. that i know i wont pass a MOt in 3 years
What do i need? and How do i fit it basic instructions please wiring isnt my thing and im trying to do things more myself than run to shop that does these thing for me being a girl as well  i dont mind getting my hands dirty just sometimes dont know where to begin.... thanks |
The easiest and cheapest way to fix it is to wire in a resistor to each indicator.
I bought 10 watt 10ohm resistors from Maplins - they were about 40p each! You will need one resistor for each indicator. The resistor will need to be connected ACROSS the two wires that feed into each indicator. Use a soldering iron/solder (from £5.99 at Maplins!) to connect the resistor to the circuit, and use some heat shrink (thin plastic stuff  ) with a hair dryer to seal it all afterwards - alternatively, you could just use insulating tape. i will try that thanks.
what would you recommend for the indicators on the rear as it looks a bit ugly now ive taken the front one off :D |
I had a similar problem, but i found with only my front indicators replcaed (with rider-shack led flushmounts) although they flash faster it's still less than 120 per minute, so is fine for mot. Check and see how fast they actually are flashing.

led indicators/new flasher unit
thanks for the help on sorting the problem on my indicators flashing to fast so. i asked my local bike shop to get the resistors, and came back with a new flasher unit to try that means no soldering or cutting into wires good for girls  with no tech skills and it stop the quick flashing just like that. Ive only had it fitted yesterday so don't know how it effects anything else as I'm the first to be sold it down here they don't know of any problems
Has anyone else had one fitted :?: |

For the rear i have motrax long stem led arrows. Why not post a pic of the flush mounts please |
yea the flasher unit is also for the side stand switch, try putting the sidestand down with it in gear, it may not cut out anymore!
|
Catmad, what make is the flasher unit? I need to get my new LED indicators fitted and it sounds like alot better solution than messing around with resistors.

it does still cut out |
No make on them i got them from fielders in Goole 01405 768729 he would have ordered them but check with fielders bike shop.
The only problem i have found that untill the revs drop to under 2000/2nd/ist gear the dash does not flash for the indicators and with the crap weather no one will come out and play to see if and when the indicators on the bike start to flash as i prefer to jput them on as early as poss and after the turn going up through the gear it doesnt flash to remind you youve left the bloody things on. |
