Hot Bodies Undertail

Hey guys,

I was looking into buying a Hot Bodies Undertail for my SV. I know I don't need it but I wants it. ;)

Anyways, I was wondering if anyone had this undertail and how they mounted their license plate? I realize it comes with brackets, I'd just like to see it done.

OR, if you want to try and persuade me into another undertail feel free... ;)

Thanks!

Mitch

I must admit that that is a nice fitting tail. I have seen many that just dont do it IMO.

But that is very nice.

Seen this on an SV in France and it looked so sweet :)

From memory the number plate was about in the line between the indicators dropped down a bit so you could see the indicators.

Hey guys,

Thanks for the comments. I did find a few pictures last night:

I wanted to see the plate closer to the taillights like igor mentioned, I want to see the Hot Bodies mounting hardware in effect.

I wanted one of these too, I was wondering how often you would get pulled over with one of these, especially the ones that tuck theplate behind the wheel. I saw a really nice stainless steel looking one, I think hotbodies racing made it. Anyone who has had one or mounted one care to comment? I have an 06 650S

Hey,

As far as the license plate goes... I think that in Canada if just has to be viewable from x amout of feet. Something like 25 feet. So they can't critique where the license plate is mounted.

As far as the indicators, I have the integrated Clear Alternatives and small bulbs running so I would replace the bulbs with the undertail. I haven't been pulled over about mine before and the undertail would be the same.

Here's how I mounted the license plate:

Homemade bracket. I did this for 2 reasons:
-I didn't want to drill holes in the undertray
-The brackets that came with the undertray didn't match the existing holes in the license plate.

Wow... That's awesome. I might have to do that.

I also don't want to drill holes into my undertail. That seems kinda... dumb.

I am debating putting it infront of the rear wheel. But, I am confident I will get hassled for that. But, it will clean up the back end quite nicely. I will have to check the local laws and regulations on the license plate location.

I will consider your mount, it's a good idea. What type of metal did you use? How'd you make it?

Thanks,

Mitch

It's stainless steel.
Just a bent tube, flattened in the end that mounts to the passenger footpeg bracket in order to drill holes in it.
There's a small plate mounted behind the license plate, welded to the tube, to make the license plate mounting easier.
Also there's a brace on the inside of the bend (partly visible on the pic below)
