London to Scotland to AR07

My brother Simon, me and the better halfs are coming from Malta by air, renting two bikes from London for a week and ride off to Scotland via A1. Then we'll start coming down to wherever you guys are gonna meet for the AR07 so we'll end up the last part of the week with you. So the sooner you guys decide date & route to AR07 the better as then we could plan our forebit better. If anyone would like to suggest a route (London to Scotland) we should take please do so as we are still at the planning stage and don't really know where to go!

If you can use
http://earth.google.com/
to show your suggested route or places better as we're not English and don't know the land, although feel free to suggest places of interest or good B&B's you found friendly.

We're not sure yet but probably its from London to Scotland in one day and then spend some time riding in Scotland (2 days), 2 days coming down to wherever the AR07 is gonna start and then a day to get the bike back to the London Rental place.

Another option is to take 2 days to go to Scotland, then spend a day there, 2 days down, etc

Any help would be usefull. Thanks lads!

do london to scotland in one day easily about 7 hours

dont use M1 its a nightmare, use M6 its slightly better

do west coast of scotland to north in one day and then north to east coast second day and back to london next

loads of fantastic roads in scotland. bring waterproofs as it will rain and insect repellant as the midges will eat you alive

My brother Simon tried camping near a loch two summers ago and was seriously attacked by midges. Him and his friends ended up running in all directions trying to get away from these midges but they kept attacking their facaes. No ammount of insect repellent seemed to harm them. They ended up abandoning their camp and found the nearest B&B. When they told the locals about their experienced they laughed their socks off. He spent the night looking through the window says Simon at the lovely view outside, the loch the mountains, beautiful he said. Next morning the owner of the guesthouse asked him if everything was alright with the room. He said yeah but that he just couldn't sleep that night for some reason. She asked if he'd seen anything unusual. He said no. "No ghosts or strange noises", she said. Appearantly the room was said to be haunted! And now little brother wants to take me there.

I have read in an old issue of bike magazine that you could take a bike on a train up to Scotland to get there nice and fresh and avoid riding the M6 pain. Does anybody know anything of this or can give me a link to the subject?
