Dodgy Rukka jacket?

Ok - I bought a Rukka jacket off of Ebay and it does keep me dry BUT.....

1) the outside pockets leak
2) the dye runs when it gets saturated

is this normal for Rukka jackets or was mine probably a shop reject?

Kate 03-10-06 02:57 PM

The outside pockets will leak, the waterproof ones are on the inside.

The dye runs?! I would not say thats normal, mine certainly doesn't.

Rukka's are pretty damn expensive and have a very good reputation, running dye does not sound right.

You've been out on the acid rain again, haven't you?

Bullwinkle 03-10-06 03:01 PM

Hmmmm..yeah I was kinda thinking it was a reject....

After the 'lovely' ride on Sunday the floor was a distinct shade of black.....:( How embarrassing......

Bullwinkle 03-10-06 03:04 PM

Is there anything I can do do stop it running or is just one of those things??

Kate 03-10-06 03:05 PM

ok, that really doesn't sound right. I've been using my Rukka jacket since NEC last year through winter etc and it has yet to do anything like that.

Bullwinkle 03-10-06 03:08 PM

Perhaps it's just an old jacket that has seen better days?

hovis 03-10-06 03:13 PM

dont wear it out in the rain

hmm, not sure.

Its still keeping you dry and I assume you've got the thermal liner so it should keep you warm when it gets colder so if its just the dye running and you got it very cheap then I guess its up to you. Personally I wouldn't be happy that I've got something that is clearly a defect as it really shouldn't be doing that.

What about contacting Rukka direct and asking for their advice? I think Rukka come with a 5 year warranty, so it might be worth asking them.

Bullwinkle 03-10-06 03:22 PM

Yeah but im not sure how old it is ......:( It be ok - it's only in prolonged/torrential rain that it runs so can't complain for 90 quid...:)

Thanks anyway.

PS. Kate - Hows it going with the Gixxer?
