Paul Hunter has died at the age of 27 after a battle with cancer.
The Leeds player was taken into the Kirkwood Hospice in Huddersfield last Friday and died on Monday evening.

The three-time Masters champion was diagnosed with dozens of neuro endocrine tumours on the lining of his stomach in March 2005.

OMG, thats sad news indeed. He was such a great tallent and one of the new generation of snooker players who made the game interesting and fun to watch again. He'll be greatly missed.

RIP.

A true nice guy, who accepted defeat as graciously and modestly as he did a win.

any loss of life is a tragedy, this more so as he was so young and he leaves a wife and 9 month old baby

RIP "beckham of the baize"

I wondered why he passed away. Very sad to hear that, im not into snooker, but i understand he was a very good player. Certainly gave the sport an image boost.

Unfortunatly, cancer is something that the more we understand about it, the more comlicated it gets, making it harder to find better treatment.

Sad news, its a shame to hear about anyone passing away.

Thoughts are with his family.

I thought he was going to beat the cancer when he was first diagnosed with it and came back to play in tournaments.

I'm not a big snooker fan - but there is one staory I always remember about Paul Hunter :-

During the 2001(?) Masters tournament he was trailing quite badly to his opponent . . .

So, he decided that instead of hanging around the tournament venue during a break he would return to his hotel with his then girlfriend for a lttle 'relaxation'

On his return he promptly proceeded to wipe the floor with his opponent & ended up winning the match 10 - 9 :D

So there you go people - that's the answer if it's all going horribly wrong on any given day !!

Man that is terribly sad, he was so young! I feel very sorry for his wife and kids.
