dodgy spark plugs

if one spark plug was dodgy would the bike still start?

Razor 10-10-06 08:03 AM

On one cylinder.

Then again, by dodgy do you mean not working?
Or tried to sell you stolen goods?

Viney 10-10-06 08:04 AM

Define dodgy!

In theory maybe, depends on what is wrong with the plug

hovis 10-10-06 08:07 AM

if one plug did not spark, would the bike start, cos its unlikly for both plugs to pack in at the same time.....is'nt it????

Razor 10-10-06 08:11 AM

if the plug doesn't spark it could be the coil rather than the plug, swop the plugs over and if the spark problem moves it's the plug. If still same problem then could be the coil.

Yes it will, but it'll run like a bag o sh*t. It wont idle properly and it may well stall. It wont rev up quickly and it'll feel sluggish to ride.

It will sound different if its only running on one cylinder to.

thanx for that, so either my both plugs are duff or its somthing else :reaper:

i will check/ change plugs if she still dont go its garage time :smt102

Does either plug spark, Have you actually removed the plugs, grounded them against the engine casing with their leads attached and turned the bike over? What, specifically are you trying to find? It's very easy to decide something is or isn't duff and be totally wrong if you're not checking in a systematic way as described by Razor
