The Catherine Wheel:

We start it in Skipton for the Lancy Lads and Lasses, and meet at a cafe on the A59 just outside of Town, before Bolton Bridge. Then, we ride along the A59 towards Harrogate, before a left turn at Blubberhouses for Greenhow (Miner's Arms).

Turn right at Greenhow, heading for Pateley, then through Pateley & left onto the B6265 for Ripon.

Swivel through Ripon and to MacD's on the A61. Meet the Leeds Lot and any northern/eastern chaps/esses.

Ripon to Masham on the A6108, then Masham to Leyburn . Get to Leyburn and then onto Hawes on A684. Lunch at Hawes, meet a few more and then on to Chapel Le Dale on the B6255.

Left at Ribblehead Viaduct (Chapel le Dale) on the B6479, going to Settle via Horton in Ribblesdale, where the Lancs Lads can sod off if reqd!

We then follow the signs out of Settle for Kirby Malham, reaching it and turning right for Airton. At Airton you take a left for Winterburn and Hetton, and thence onto Grassinton on the B6265.

Follow the road past Grassington and onto Stump Cross Caverns -and that's the big circle done. Ripon-ites (ie Bad Boys of Bedale) then go on home via Pateley, the Leeds Lot turn right at Greenhow and back home via Otley.

Count me in.

Anyone know the name / location in more detail of the cafe at the start point in Skipton please?

timwilky 11-10-06 12:48 PM

Just keep going down the A59, don't turn into Skipton. it is about 4 miles past on the right hand side with a service station alongside. Bacon and egg Barms are recommended

Sorry to muck up your head count Cpt Nemo, but I can't make it after all. It's my birthday today and I was supposed to be going out for a meal & a few drinks tomorrow to celebrate, but I've had to put it off until Saturday night, and I won't be in any state to ride a bike on Sunday. :( I was looking forward to this one too, sorry mate...

mac608 12-10-06 04:23 PM

Happy birthday for today.
