So the damage is:- now with piccies

Errr, it had to happen

RHS down. Crack to upper RHS fairing, RH mirror, bar end snapped of and front brake lever scuffed/deformed. Snapped off front/rear indicators, dent/scuff to tank and back plastic. snapped peg hanger and rhs peg. yet brake lever ok.

TBH it looks worse than it is. Will post piccys later.

How:-

Well overtaking a couple of cars on an NSL road (I was not speeding) I see an oncomming car and pull back into the centre. It is full of ****e and I loose the back wheel just as the oncomming car passes. I somehow dented the rear 1/4 of the oncomming car. I dont remember doing it and could claim it was already there.

Bloody witnesses called meat wagon and old bill who breathalysed me (0.00 reading) and I have just had to produce my docs.

Oncomming car was a w reg astra belonging to a local chemists shop. I would guess that using a local body shop that the dent would cost less than £100 to fix, but I bet they want to milk it.

Apart from your pride, are you hurt?

BILLY 22-10-06 02:06 PM

Sorry to hear it , At least your OK!!!!

timwilky 22-10-06 02:10 PM

No damage to me. Right hand must have hit something as there is a little tenderness. But nothing broken/cut etc. My lid took a fair scrape. Worse thing was it only happened about a mile from home.

As there was no caution or anything am I likely to get away without points etc.

Law 22-10-06 02:14 PM

Glad to hear you are fine. Losing the the back due to cr*p on the road is something that could happen to anyone.

Carsick 22-10-06 02:53 PM

I don't see why you would be penalised at all, it doesn't sound like you were doing anything that would be interpreted as dangerous.

Glad you're not hurt, I have to admit to having the odd little slide in similar circumstances.

fizzwheel 22-10-06 02:57 PM

Doh, glad your OK Tim, could have been much worse.

Good luck getting the bike sorted out.

Ceri JC 22-10-06 03:17 PM

Glad you're okay Tim. Sorry to hear about this.

timwilky 22-10-06 04:14 PM

OK question time.

My insurance is fully comp.

I guess the car that I am supposed to have hit will claim against me. I only renewed my policy yesterday which expires on the 24th so I guess that will need adjusting.

Assuming they claim, What do I do with my own bike. I have £175 X/S and would guess my bike can be repaired for that. So if I can persuade the 3rd party to let me pick up the cost if I can get it into a "cheap" bodyshop. At least that way I keep my no claims etc.

Bad luck Tim, pleased you're not hurt - the rest is a faff with insurance and that, but far preferable even to a short spell laid up.
