new chain and sprockets

hello,

this is due for replacment soon, and i was going to change the ratio to give a little more acceleration, i will be adding either an extra one or two teeth to the rear sproket. any recomendations?

how many teeth are on the F and R sproket as standard? (S model)

any recomended suppliers?

cheers

thanks so thats a drive ratio of 2.93

if i add one tooth - 3 (2.38% increase in thrust/acceleration)

if i add two teeth - 3.06 (4.43% increase in thrust/acceleration)

two looks more appealing!! anyone have any experiences to report?

A few people have gone up on the rear and enjoyed the additional acceleration. Make sure you compensate for this if you're ordering a chain and sprocket kit, as IIRC the SV650S runs a 525 108 link chain, where as the naked runs a 110 link as it is 1 tooth bigger rear sprocket(45T), though apparently the swingarm is 10mm longer which may have more to do with it.....

Clear as mud then

thanks, will bear in mind

now im just getting carried away... i wonder how far you can go

extra 3 teeth ratio - 3.13 (6.93% increase)
extra 4 teeth ratio - 3.2 (9.21% increase)

i am not one for going anywhere near top end, and you have to change gears alot anyway as it is, so i could go crazy with out any big down falls

Im running 14 front, 47 rear (-1, +3) at the moment and I bloody love it but im always under fire for my mods so pay no attention to me! If you do decide to go as far as I have Talon make sprockets that size to order, although I bought mine indirectly via JHS.
I posted pics on my blog about my setup it if you care to have a butchers its

lol here we go X)

What can I say? Im a massive fan of the traffic light grand prix! When I placed the order at JHS all the woman could ask is "what exactly are you trying to acheive!?" :P

adam_castell 23-10-06 07:46 AM

little rich,

does the standard chain guard still fit over the chain? i might go for -2F & +2R setup then i could use a standard sized chain. +9% does sound like fun!

i run

standard front sprocket and 2 extra on the rear, which makes the bike pull better in the mid range
