Hello all from a slightly bent and pi$$ed off Paul

All went a bit wrong this morning on the way into work......going round Harrington Square near Camden on a bit of road that I know is always slippery so I always take it easy. After a tight right hand corner the road straightens out, and you can usually have a little fun before the next corner.....not today though as it must have been a lot more slippery than normal. Basically the back wheel spun up and I found myself going down the road speedway style (not a career I'll take up because it's evident that I'm sh1te at it!) and the back wheel must of suddenly gripped and the bike spat me off. I landed heavily on my left side and banged my head so the lid is history....my left elbow is starting to swell (can't put much weight on it) and my ribs took a bashing.....I had a look at the road after and took some pictures....running my boot over the surface made it clear that there was feck all grip.......busses use that stretch all the time so diesel was a factor.

Massive thanks to Barro off Londonbikers.com for coming to the rescue and convincing me that the bike was in no way ridable (funny what adrenaline does to you) and making sure I was ok, and also to the other people who helped me pick the bike out of the road.

At the end of the day the bike can be repaired (R&G.....I love you), and I'm positive that my lid saved my head from a more serious injury. Wear your kit people and watch the road surface.

I'm now in the market for a left rearset (including gear selector rod), clutch lever, and left pillion bracket. If you know of anyone who has these parts could you please let me know?

As a side thought, the SV does crash pretty well fitted with R&Gs.....second time I've had it down on that side and the damage is minimal considering. I did say to barro "I'll ride it to work, no worries, I'll just leave it in first".....he then pointed out the snapped off clutch lever will slighly impair my ability to stop.....doh :roll:

Youve got the shorter R&Gs that were not standard on the SV, they seem to be what are made for the TLS. I did consider them as the levage for them to pop out of the cup is much less thus making them more effective than normal SV R&Gs that just disapear when the bike hits the deck. Of course this only applys to the old style R&Gs.

Sorry to hear this Paul, glad you're basically okay, a bit of a bummer falling off, isn't it? I also have a clutch lever that you're welcome to, so if Jambo can't find his, just let me know.

Sorry to hear of your off mate :(, glad that you're mostly ok, i don't know if the pointy (k3) footpeg is diferent to your curvey but i have a spare one if wanted. i know it's different to the k5 one. you got my number anyway:)
