Sv650s vs supersports 600

Just been reading Performance Bike and in the latest issue round their Bruntingthorpe test route the SV was quicker than all the inline 4 '06 sports 600s (CBR, GSXR, and R6).

Is that correct?

Does anyone know if the SV was tuned at all?

Are SVs that quick, or sports 600s that slow (or both)?

Still the Triumph daytona 675 is faster......mmmm.

Really - thats just embarrising...

I cant find the story in PB though - what issue is it?

It was the latest issue, December I think! It's got Foggy on the front, and a good article on the Cannonball on a ZZR 1400

Hmm, this is rather worrying. I cannot see the SV650 beating a SS600 on a track anyday of the week. Unless it was highly tuned or being ridden by Rossi.

I find that hard to believe. It must be a mistake with the printed times sure. The SV(standard) is definitely not that good.

For a second I thought about buy the MAG until I read the Foggy bit. Oh..well :?

Cheers
Ben

Ah found it - it was a 99 model with over 40k on the clock! There are 2 675 tests in there - and the SV beat 1 of them. Maybe the rider was having a good day. The Buells are way up there as well which was interesting. Overall i guess it shows there isnt much between all the bikes considering the 600s are a second slower than the SV and the R1 is at the top at 5 secs faster.

EDIT: 1.37 was the lap time.

Do you know what track it was? I am willing to bet that it did not have any long straights were the 600's could use their peak torque. The rider must have been having a very good day!

The OP said it was Bruntingthorpe. Is that very bendy?

I just spat my tea everywhere!

Those times must be wrong or the SS600's were being ridden by ewoks!
