Tick Over

Hi guys,

I'm not really mechanically minded so you will have to bear with me here.

When I stop at traffic lights the bike ticks over but feels a little sluggish.

If I then twist the throttle a little quite often it cuts out. A real pain when you are just about to buzz off after filtering to the lights in front of cars.

Is there anyway I can increase the idle tick over?

It's got another 2k until a service so just wondered if there is a dial or something that i can turn?

Cheers
Wheelie

What model bike is it? on the curvey there's an idle adjuster just to the left of the bike under the tank!! But only adjust your idle speed when the engine is at normal operating temp

pointy or curvy

if pointy there be a little cross head screw left side to the left of the triangular opening

what sort of revs it ticking over at now ?

NAPA121 01-11-06 09:51 PM

Not 100% sure but I think it hovers on the 1k.

Can I make it tick over at 1.25 - 1.5 ?

Can you clarify exactly where it is and exactly how to turn it? How do ensure that I dont turn to much etc..?? Any tips?

A 1k tickover should not be the reason for any kind of stalling. Your TPS might be a bit out, or the throttle bodies might need balancing.

on mine its in the left corner of the upside down triangle part of the frame almost directly below the silver suzuki s on the tank just use a crosshead screw driver to turn it in alittle at a time with the engine warmed up 1300/1400 rpm is fine

would post a pic but its not letting me
