cager saved my bacon
Was about half a mile from my house when white van man started to flash and beep me. I'd just filtered past him so ignored for a few seconds but he kept on flashing. So I pulled over and he got out of his van and said, "look down there". I look down and my bungee for holding my cover down in the wind was hanging of my swing arm being dragged along behind the bike.
I guess I had left in a hurry and hadn't removed it from my bike properly. I usually just chuck it in my front yard. So yeah, that could have been me over the handlebars if it had bounced up into my chain or back wheel. Lesson learned - make sure everything is done properly before setting off!!! |
there is at least one decent white van man out there then

This is totally off topic, but what happened to the front end of your bike kwak zzr
|
The same thing happened to me once when on a trip and I really don't know for how many miles I'd been going with the bungee inches from the wheel but bloody nobody beeped or did anything. And I was going slow, around 70-75 mph (had another bike then...), so everyone was passing over me. I noticed only when I got in a gas station...

A couple of weeks ago I dropped my bike (rode off with the disk lock on, how stupid can you get?) I couldn't pick it up on my own. A white van stopped, the driver got out and helped me pick up the bike. |
...and put it in the back of his van? i get so suspicous of van drivers driving slowly around my street  [/quote]
