Mail delivery problem
What's with the post office now adays? Yesterday, i've received a number of letters that have already been opened (they didn't even bother to reseal it). Plus i often receive letters intended for my neighbors and some times from other streets.
So would you file a complaint to the post office? risking the postman finding it out and not deliver your letters full stop? Postman can have access to vital information about a person, all your bank statement, pin numbers etc all has to come through these people. With all the identity theft, i am pretty worried. What's everyone experiences with the post office/postman like? |
I'd report it, and PDQ too.

Unfortuatly my source of all things post office related is off in the Caribbean on a cruise, spending my inheritance...
However from knowledge of similar issues, I personally would go to the police as tampering with mail is a criminal offence. Reason for his rather than the post-office is that in the case I know about the Postie in question lost their job, took it to tribuneral, got their job back AND £10k compensation - tho the Post Office is challenging that. Mistake that was made was not involving the police and trying to deal with it in-house. So call your local copper, if hes dealing with your mail problem, hes not giving you a speeding ticket :) David |
Re: Mail delivery problem
You can always arrange to collect your mail from the sorting office. That would stop the postman from knowing anything about you.

i work for the PO in Wolverhampton and you do get dodgey postmen and women it would be foolish to say you didn't  i would ring your local delivery office and file a complaint and also ring customer services the PO have there own internal police the IB and they will prob watch your delivery man for a while or trace back your mail and see where it could have been intercepted.
the PO are now recruiting how they should be STRICT! but in the past 5-8 years its been "can you read and write" your in! from what i see where i work they have employed a right load of shi# in the past but now things should start to look up, with all the competition out there the PO are working hard with customers to make things right. hope this helps darren |

Thanks all for your input, one thing i worry if i file a complaint or even to the police is for the postman to found out later and retaliate. could they ever find out?

i phoned the postoffice to complain over a series of parcels that never arrived (not one!) even a parcel full of home made birthday presents for me from my girlfriend (at the time) which was of no value to anyone but me! If you insure it it barely makes any difference they've got the system worked out. I just phoned the police in the end, and as much as they whinged about it i said it was theft- they had to follow it up! as far as i know they did, but i'd lost all confidence in the system by then.
