FI light flashes when doing long rides

Hello all. i think this is my first post here been lurking here for a while tho

i have a sv650sk3 copper which has started to complain when its goes anywhere near top speed.

Let me explain: If i were to jump on my bike right now and take it up to about 100miles an hour i would get a red light on the dash, an FI code on the left side of the display and the temp guage would flash from temp to FI to temp to FI etc. this would continue until i turn off the engine, then say i continue with my ride it would not complain for a bit and then it will suddenly start doing it again even if i were just cruising. the weird thing is that she rides no differently and there for there are no symptons to give me a starting point on what to fix.

The really weird part is that if i just cruise a round town all day it will not show up at all.

mechanically the bike is stock except for k&n filter and yoshi trs. Oil was changed about 3000ks ago (1.5months), coolant and brake fluid are overdue to be changed tho. also have smart TRE and have adjusted TPS

I had that before.... and I first experienced it before 1000miles when the bike was new. I'm glad to say that it's not happened again and that's a year and a half now. It was diagnosed as a sticky / out of adjustment throttle cable, so check the pair of them (pull & return) for correct adjustment and see how it goes. The funny thing is, when you bimble around, all is well. It's only when you crank it on a bit, so it must be once one of the cables gets beyond a certain point. When I pulled over to switch off in panic, the revs stayed a little high too - in my case 3000rpm! That makes slowing for a roundabout more interesting!

Cheers,

FI light is also the oil warning light. Check the manual it tells you all about the different things it does.

I hadn't sealed up my TRE mod that well and this happened after some time while on a relatively long ride. Guessed this was where the problem lay & haven't had it since.

Part of the wiring wasn't well insulated and was contacting with bits of the bike it wasn't supposed to

I would check to see if the mass flow air sensor or the temperature sensor is disconnected or loose this could be the problem. I had a similar problem when i laid my bike down. Good luck
