Think I've been scammed!!

Situation is, eBay auction for exhausts for my 650s. Seller will take Paypal but prefers postal order. I win the auction and go to pay only no Paypal! I try contacting him for an account but no reply so I send the postal order and mail him saying that the postal order is sent. Then I get a mail saying "Oh you could of paid through Paypal and here's my account details." Before bidding I checked his feedback and some was a little iffy. So now there is a little doubt in my mind. Next I get a few, not one or two but like 3 or 4 mails asking for my address, my exact address, "In case its different from my ebay address"! The postal order cleared over a week ago and I got a mail off him saying that would post it tomorrow and I should have it by Friday or Saturday just gone. No post for Pauly though. I mailed him yesterday just to let him no that I still hadn't received it yet. I get a mail today saying he thought this might happen and he'd call me today to tell me why. Turns out its still not even posted yet! He's having personal issues thats stopped him from posting it. On the phone he asks for my Paypal account details in case the postage I paid was over the odds and he'd refund the difference. Now I'm thinking, firstly he wanted my exact address now he wants my Paypal details. Am I'm being a bit overly worried or should I be more worried?

i would not give him pp details just ask him AGAIN to post the pipe asap

i have waited up to 3 weeks for somthings, just keep on to him

valleyboy 28-11-06 09:15 PM

Id tell him to keep the difference.. sounds fishy if hes after your paypal details all the time, especialy as you have already paid him!

PaulyMac 28-11-06 09:36 PM

I told him to keep anything that was left over on the postage. I just have a horrible feeling that I'll not see the exhaust or money back.

Your paypal details is just your email address, unless it's a very personal one I wouldn't worry. The seller might just be asking for that because he's stalling for time. I know I can only post stuff on a Saturday, maybe he's the same.

Re: Think I've been scammed!!

Ok I'll try and put a few things straight. Normally I'll keep my stuff private but understand why you may be thinking you have been scammed. I'v ejust realised who you are  Ben(benny).

I have indeed got some legal issues which I'm dealling with at the moment and those that need to know, know. It's taking up a lot of time and a bit out of me. Andyb from this site is also waiting for a couple of bits he bopught from me which has not been posted. he sent a cheque to me almost a week ago and I still have presented it. That's how things have been. I'm sure he'll confirm if he sees this thread.

The auction did say I may take paypal but of course but of course that was for the benefit of UK mainland bidders. Reason for that is because I've only got a basic paypal account and there are limits so prefer only overseas bidders to pay via paypal. Infact on that auction I made a bit of a mistake as the minimum amount was more than my monthly limit.

A few things with your posts which are just plain wrong.

I did say i to you I will take paypal but prefers postal/money order for the reasons above. I was prepared to upgrade my account because the co*ckup was mine ie should have double checked what my receiving limit was for my paypal account instead of asumming it was something it wasn't. You DID get a reply from me telling you what my paypal account was(go check again).

I was surprised when I got a message from you saying you had sent a postal order hence the message which you refer to "oh you could have paid through paypal" (go check again). Infact I only upgraded my account because I made a C8ckup with the listing and therefore you had the call on which method you wanted to use.

Sorry I don't understand what you mean by a little iffy. One thing I don't do is mess abvout with feedbacks on Ebay. A lot of people give too much of a sh*t about feedback hence whyy half the feedback score on ebay is crap to be honest. If I get crap from a seller or a buyer I'll usually give them a lot of time for them to put things right and if they don't then 'welcome to an honest feedback' . So if a couple or so negative feedback because of me being straight with my feedback is iffy I'll take that but don't forget it's people like me with a couple or so negatives that give a true story with regards to feedback score on Ebay

Pauly, You had three or four emails asking to comfirm your address because I was not getting a reply from you on the Ebay messaging service. The reason for the emails was not IN CASE IT WAS DIFFERENT FROM YOUR EBAY ADDRESS Now I'm sure you'll remember one of the very first message(via Ebay) to you was to ask the address on the Ebay invoice was correct. It didn't look quite right. ...and what was your reply?. Well you did say Ebay kept getting it wrong for some reason(am I wrong?)....and did I or did I not tell you to please reply confirming the address using the Ebay messaging service. The reason for that was becasue the email address you replied from was not the same as the email address you had on Ebay. I mentioned that to you(did I not?)

I never said "I THOUGHT this might happen". Below is the message sent to you this morning.

As I said I've got some tasking legal issues going on which why all the delay.

Hi Pauly,

I'm sorry. I kew that would be the case. A bit problem so to speak my end.

I was going to ring you this evening(cheaper) to explain why. Expect my call about 7.00-7.30. Sorry again.

Sorry maybe it's just me but when I know I've made a ballsup of things I like to try even if it's just a little gesture to show my apologies. Normally I wouldn't bother refunding as I've had some things where I've actually had to add to the shipping cost(undercharged on that). Again because I have made a ballsup even though postage has been agreed I thought it would in a small way go towards showing my appreciation for your patience.

Again I'll say it again, your adresss on the Ebay invoice didn't look right. I sent you a message to that effect and you you did say that Ebay kept mucking around with your address. So if you have agreed that the address may indeed not be quite right why does it now seem dodgy that I asked for you to confirm it. Would you have prefered that I just sent it and for it to get lost and then we have a different kettle of fish altogether.

What's all this about wanting your paypal details :? . On the phone I told you what I'd like to do but to do that I'll obviously prefer to have a paypal email rather than having to send a postal order which I have got the time as it is.

Ok I'll say now I can of understand your concern but you have not been exactly straight with your version of events  . I'm not having a go(end of the day I made the ballsup) just putting things straight. I would though appreciate if you do check all correspondence to confirm atleast for yourself that you made quite some erroe in you post.

Now like I said, I'm normally a private person as I said and would not normally be posting such but really had no choice due to the inaccuracies in the post.

I have never ripped anyone off on Ebay on on here. If I have ever made an error in any dealings with anyone, I've always said all thay have to do is get in touch with me and it will be put right. I treat folks the way I like to be treated. I guess people just get used to being treated wrongly.

Maybe this would be a good time  to name the fella on this site who ripped me off. Peeps welcome say hello to the thieving site member **********. Don't worry he knows what he owes.

Cheers
Ben

ps: Hope all is clear now
Should have really been wrapping the bits up  :)

Edit - Users forum name removed. Fizz. Guys please use PM if you have a problem with another forum users. I'd prefer it if dirty washing was not done in public.
