What a day..

Started off this morning @ 07:00hrs by putting a Land rover on the back of the 14 tonner Flatbed Bedford TM.
Left my location (Leeming, South of Catterick) Heading south on the A1 to Cambridge.
I'd asked a fellow work m8 if the A1 south was clear as He'd just traveled north from A59 junction, to which he replied yes its clear.
It normally takes us about 20 minutes to get to the Ripon turn off... NOT today... 2 hours 25 mins later we were getting off the A1 due to an accident.
finally get to Cambridge @ 14:20 Hrs...
unload Land rover, pick up another Land rover to bring back, pick up stores and other niff naff and triv...
Set off north bound.
All going well until I notice the engine is starting to smoke a little.
still going good until get to the A1 junction 44 the M62 turn off, goes down the dip and then loose all power on the uphill bit. Had to go on hard shoulder. gets out and and checks oil level, slightly down on start from Cambridge... Humm I think must be burning oil, hence a bit of smoke from engine.
Try to restart the thing but no... so I ring for Road side assistance, then Phone battery dies on me.
 Someone some where is having a right laugh at me I thinks.
Gets out passenger door and looks for arrows to nearest phone box Luckily 150 meters behind me.
Relay all my details to the nice bloke on the other end of the phone, 10 mins later he rings back to inform me Assistance is en route.
I go back to the truck and thinks to myself, jack the cab and have a look see. so I do just that.
I crack open the high pressure pipe on a few injectors to see if I've got fuel there, NO. so I bleed the low pressure side of the FIP and the High pressure side and the Bloody thing starts. :D
Runs back to phone box to cancel assistance and gets back in truck and makes it back to Leeming for 20:30 Hrs.

I'm Threaders. and now having a well deserved glass or two of Cider.
 Ever had one of those days?

Oh yes, tomorrow I'm going to make my fellow work m8 do press ups till his eyes bleed, or he melts

so hows your day been then ?

oo dear yes know the feeling mate  .

still at least you were able to fix your lorry & get on your way, bet it would have been a while waiting for assistance.

My life is good on the whole. Had a crap few years lately but since july all has been good apart from the odd hipcup that we all get from time to time.

finally in a job i enjoy & apart from nearly killing myself in the early part of last month all is good "touches wood".

how's your bike richie?? still avoiding those wet leaves, i nearly came a cropper on some by my house the other day.

Hardly had time for a coffee. Had enough of peeps shouting @ me for things which aren't my fault. And now I can't sleep :(

My 1st day as an IT contractor was soooo hard.

Turned up at 10:50, in the middle of the window that I had to be there.

Spent 15 minutes reviewing the NDA I had to sign as the guy I was to work with was running late.

He arrived and was shown to my desk, briefed on the network/hardware I am to be working with (8 identical servers). Had a while to look around Windows Vista and Longhorn and familiarise myself with them.

Installed the official release version of Vista on to 2 of the machines that were running the RC1 release., and reconfigured one of the Longhorn servers to be a PDC.

Then I came home.

Oh and the commute - 20 mins each way.

So a really bad day for me - NOT!!!!

Riding in the dark and ****ing rain this morning, I kept thinking to myself "I have a really nice car parked on the drive at home"

Got to work and it stopped raining and the sun came out.

All I have to do at work is figure out how to configure the new fibre channel cards we're putting in the Sunfire at the weekend. Hitachi Data Systems where supposed to call me yesterday but never did, I'll leave yet another voicemail in a minute.

On the bright side I'm meeting some mates (whom I've not seen for a while) later for some dinner :D

Do remember you're paid by the hour. When I did locum work it was surprising just how long things took  but I must have learned cos now I'm self employed I can do them far quicker :D

Well yesterday was going fine until 11:00 pm when a big old Ash came down accross the lane and flattened the hedge to our paddock. Now the poor horse is kept in until the nice men from the council clear the tree (except they will nick all the fire wood!). and we can fence the squashed hedge...
