Dartford to Greenwich and then back again!

I currently use the A2, which as many people on here will know is a nightmare journey :!:

Have tried going through Crayford, Bexleyheath, Welling, Shooters Hill and Blackheath, but that was even worse with muppets on the school run.

Any better ideas :?:

Not really. I think that you have exhausted all the routes.

You could go via eastbourne!

Would your boss consider flexi-time, or a change of hours?

I start and finish much earlier now... I miss most of the traffic (school runs etc.) Mind you I am in car these days...

Just a thought...

A2 is your best bet im afraid. Get on at dartford heath or the bexley junction if you can. Usually after then its not tooo bad till the speed camera when it splits to two lanes (can't remember the junction name).

Come off and filter through to blackheath commen, then go through the park and come out at the 1 way system.

What ever you do don't go the lower road to the Woolwich Ferry as it is a complete nightmare

I do Dartford to the Blackwall several times a week in rush hour and although the A2 is bad it is the best route------------Patience and an extra set of eyes and be careful filtering as truck, van and cage drivers cant look at both sides at the same time ,plus the traffic ahead

The reason I put the above was because I have scoots and bikes filtering at bothsides and the hard shoulder. The safest lane to filter in is the middle/outside,the fast lane can't turn right so they should check the nearside mirror before changing lane. The middle lane should check the offside mirror before changing lane-------------in theory

This isn't a bike riders perspective but a truck drivers, remember we don't have a rear view mirror
so we are looking down the sides of the vehicle

RIDE SAFE

Agreed - have now tried most of the alternative routes and the A2, despite being a nasty route, actually seems to be the best.

Thanks for all the replies.

Just be glad you only get on at dartford heath...I know of someone who comes from Chatham and does all the roadworks, which by the way, is being increased in length now to include Dartford Heath all the way to Cobham(just the other side of Gravesend)

Daimo 12-12-06 10:41 AM

Yeah i know, thats what I have to do...

New camera frames already going up..

My argument is..

If they are building a complete new road to the side, why should the current A2 be effected by speed cameras :(

The next 2 years is looking bleak :(
