Get off the RIGHT side not the right HAND side

Dropped the SV today, clown!

Been out to work & had to deliver a file for the misses at dinner, so had the tail pack on.
came home as usual, pulled up next to my step sons car at the back of the house. I parked quite close as I have a shed on the patio ready to be assembled at the next availible oportunity (trying to make more room in the garage). Got off the right hand side of the bike due to the close proximity to the pug 106. Having the tail pack on, I couldn't swing my leg over, so adopted the faulty towers back suffle to dismount. as my dismount reached ankle position over the seat, I had that feeling of the bike creeping forward,

Try it, put your left foot on the saddle from the right hand side of your bike & think, umm can I catch it.

The answer is YES

but when it's too late!!!!!

The bike went, panic set in, focus came in, dont know how I got my leg off, but I caught it, just as my mirror plastic couldn't cope any more and the bolt that holds the mirror to the stem puncured the door of my step son's pride & joy

No other damage to the SV but the mirror, the pug may take a little more work :(

I dont suppose there are any racers out ther that don't want a K5 left hand mirror??

Think yourself lucky it wasn't your car. :P

don't know if this makes me a bad person, but your description of the 'accident' made me lol. Its the sort of nonsense situation i get myself into on a regular basis.... poor you. What did your lad say?!

Now... if someone had a video of this you could have got the mony back from the telly program to fix it. I'm sorry it just sounds quite commical they way it happenned. Could have been worse.

Sorry to hear about the damage though, any idea of the repair cost?

Did you leave the bike in gear when you got off?

Literally hours before buying my old man's car off him (it was planned anyway- I didn't buy it because of this :D) I managed to reverse my SV into the front left hand side, damaging the indicator. I couldn't believe it, so embarrassing!

Tomcat 08-12-06 11:13 AM

didn't think sv's had a reverse!

 D'oh!

My sv fell on my car once... kickstand wasn't down properly and the vibes from the engine wiggled it over... I was just heading towards my front door for something when I heard the crunch.

At the time I thought the car came off worse as the headlight bracket had snapped but I'm now thinking my leaky petrol tank on the bike is probably worse...

 :D

£40.01 :? for the mirror
Should have gone to E-bay but it'll be here tomorow anyway

As for the car?
Chewing gum & nail varnish anyone

I still have a handlebar shaped ding on the wing of my car from foolishly doing a bit of spannering when the bike was on the sidestand.
