Lube Tube??
 

My SV had a scottoiler fitter when i bought it. :-) Lucky me eh?

Well sort of - the only problem is, that whoever fitted it obviously never gave a second thought to refiling or adjusting it. Is tucked right down next to the pillion seat lock under the rear panel / faring thing - what ever its called.

I can just see the top of it when i take the pillion seat off it - but is is set so low down that the only way to fill it properly is to take the side panels off. This is a real pain when all it takes if a couple of trips down to gatwick to empty the thing.

Anyways - i was planning on moving it this winter, and then i stumbled across an advert for a lube tube. Does anyone know anything about them? It seems like i could just leave my RMV tucked right down under the faring, but fir the lube tube under the pillion seat. This would give me more capacity and make it much easier to fill.

So what do u think? Is the lube tube the answer to all my problems?

My Scotoiler has a filler tube. you just pull it out, connect the scotoil bottle and squeeze oil into the reservoir. Are you sure yours isn't the same?

isn't that the air inlet tube? the one they strongly recommend u don't use for filling?

There's two. The breather at the top, and another one that clips on to where the filler hole is.

mm yeah i got one of those - but its too short to get to properly without removing the side panel. its just cos it was fitted too low down on the bike.

You could replace that for a longer one, or re-fit the reservoir higher up?

Depending on how its fitted it will be either strapped into position or held via a ring holder. Either way it should be able to tease the thing free. When I fitted my oiler to my SV I secured using cable ties and velcro to stop it moving. On my gixer when I fitted it I secured using the rings.

I'd just move it, if I were you. It's a curvy you have i think? There's a spare M6 hole on the left hand of the frame behind the side covers, couldn't be more ideal for the oiler. Scottoiler's mounting brackets work a charm and it's easier to access, as well as being more vertical which is good for the oiler.

I thought the lube tube went after the oiler? Could be wrong though.

No, the lube tube acts as a reservoir before the Scotoiler (like the number plate mounted touring kit) - so it might help New Leaf but even so I would move the Scotoiler even if only to make it easy to adjust.

Ah, that's clever. Hmm, I never got one before since I'd nowhere to put it after, but if it's befoer I can make that work. Nice one!
