started work on the sv650s today
you know the damaged one  looks weird all in bits. is there anyway of telling if the bottom yoke is damaged or is it just a case of putting it all back together and seeing how she rides?
I'm now waiting for quite alot of parts to arrive and then i can start putting the puzzle back together. |
I bought my bike crash damaged with bent front forks. When putting new forks in, it was pretty difficult putting the forks through the bottom yoke and getting them through the top yoke as well. Put marks on the forks forcing them through. So that told me mine was bent. Although, I kept them as is and it's perfectly fine - No handling problems etc.

i'll fit my new forks and just see how i go, i think my front wheel may not be running straight either :? thats going to cost :(

Are you going to put the plastics back on or are you going to build a fighter? It would look good as a cafe racer and also double as a winter hack 8)

I laughed out loud when i saw the pic of the forks side-by-side. I know its not funny but it takes a good force to bend forks like that
You'll just have to see how the bike rides when its all back together - maybe compare it along with another SV (ride back to back) so you can be sure theres no big differance. Have fun putting it back together! Matt |
If the tank isnt sitting straight, I have the tank mounting brackets still sitting around here somewhere.... I have no use for them, as I dont have an SV anymore  simple way of checking is to see if there is equal size gaps between the tank and fram from side to side... the bracket is made of soft chease.. so bends stupidly easily if you drop the bike witha full tank in it... :?
anyway, free to whomever wants them... I have both upper and lower ones... thats if I havent thrown them out yet! |
