Tank Protection. (K1 curvy)
I've just got hold of an oxford sport tank bag. It's got magnets to grip the tank. How do I protect the tank against scratching by the bag?

Oxford sell a roll of soft material thats designed to work with your tank bag to stop it scratching the tank but its expensive. Liz got a roll of simialr cloth from a pound shop. I think its designed to go under kitchen table clothes and place mats etc to stop them slipping / marking the table and its exactly the same as the Oxford stuff. I cut a big square of that off and I use that underneath my tank bag. Its simialr to the tribo seat stuff that you can get to put on your pillion seat to stop your pillion sliding about but I wouldnt use that as its expensive.
I know some people use an old tea towel or a just a piece of soft cloth will do. Just make sure its clean and theres no grit or small particles stuck to it before you pop it on the tank. I always give my tank bag a quick brush off before I put it on the tank to make sure its clean. HTH |

Failing that, most car accessory shops should stock Draper "Grip Mat" it comes in various sizes and isnt exactly expensive.

Dunelm Mill sell the same stuff in about two meter rolls, I think for less than a fiver - their use is to stop rugs moving on laminate floors.

Thanks to all for the info

I think I have a Tankslapper tank-top protector somewhere that I'm not likely to use... It's been stored for a while so might not be perfect but it might suit you.
