For the 99-02, the Renegade airkit keeps the standard airbox, it's just a filter and intake stacks. Think of it as a sound mod, it doesn't do very much for performance, and certainly not enough to justify the cost I reckon- not when compared with a better fitler and jet kit setup, and even those are hard to justify in terms of cost vs performance. Quite hard to get decent power from an SV with breathing work.

Tank spacers- Chewy22 sells them, but really you can use anything with a hole in the middle. Doorstops are a past favourite :) Stacks of washers, M8 nuts, polo mints...

Going to sound incredibly thick here but the intake stacks (what they call velocity stacks) - what are they and where do they go?

They replace the things that stick out of the top of your carbs, and are a bit taller than standard. Hard to describe :) I couldn't honestly say what result they have, though. Viney knows more about that I think?

not worth the £100 then? whats the best option, i was also considering 2 independant filters similer to ram air etc would thios help or am i best off gutting the airboc and bolting a k3-k7 bmc filter to the top?

Well... I don't think it is, your mileage may vary. I don't count it as a performance mod, which is why I judge it harshly, but to be fair if you want induction noise it does the trick. I just wouldn't pay a tenner for that, never mind £100 :)

I reckon, for induction on the SV... Well, realistically, don't **** with it :) It'll swallow time and money and give you a nicer response and a few bhp. It's hard to justify in terms of result against price. I did it as cheap as it possibly could be- second hand filter and jet kit, and a race system off Ebay for £100, and fitted it all myself with just 2 checking dyno runs. I'd still find it impossible to justify, if I hadn't enjoyed doing it.

Do the cams first ;)

But, if you do it... I can't speak for pods, don't know enough about them. They take some effort to make them work well I gather, with the big K&Ns the bike jets as if it had no filters at all but needs further carb work on the float heights, and a drilled out air jet or something. Not so easy to do yourself, and quite pricy for a pro to do.

I reckon the best setup for the SV is either a BMC Race RS filter (the one for the curvy) or, second best, a desnorkelled standard or other race filter. Mine now has the Race RS 180 DJ mains in, which is what you'd put in a lightly tuned Firestorm :) Unfortunately, because I did it by trial and error I can't say for sure what results it had, but it's not lifechanging. Only one other person's ridden my bike lately and she seemed to like it, but it didn't tear her arms off either.
