a tank bag and a ruck sack.

I'd opt for tank bag & panniers to be honest. Either that, or tank bag & rugsack BUT strap the rugsack to the pillion seat so you don't end up falling on it!

i too am intrested in this (AR07) but dont fancy wearing a rucksack

will i have to put the pillion seat on instead of the cowl for a tailbag?

Nope, just something to protect the paint work. Panniers get my vote

How much for the panniers in the sale Paws? Shows as £99 on the website for black ones.

I got everything Liz and I needed for a trip to Ireland into a Tailback on my bike and a 10l Kreiga tailpack on Liz's bike.

The key to this is to only take what you need and then I'd bet you've still taken to much stuff. Travel light is the only way.

I dont like covering bike distances with a rucksack on it gets uncomfortable after a while.

The Oxford stuff is pretty good IMHO. Except that the rain hoods are rubbish and I've given up with them as they never fit properly so I pack all the stuff I want to keep dry in a bin bag so that it doesnt get wet.

Agreed. My tank bag / tail pack thingy's rain cover was toast after two hours on the Autoroute.
