Name that Knocking (with video)

Ok. So I finally got around to recording the sound made from my engine around the right side stator. Linked are three videos. 2000 Nekkid. 19k miles. The sound almost seems like a plastic knock, and it does increase with the revs. She has never run dry of oil, never done wheelies, and never been on her side. I took her to a garage, and they said not to worry about the noise. (they took the clutch apart and found nothing)

Anyone know what pre-ignition sounds like?

(Give them time to download once you click on them.)

*I could not get the third vid to upload, its just the left side. And I will tell just you that the knocking is not coming from that side.

how long you had the bike for? sounds normal to me  now my thou that makes some weird noises :D

I've tried the screw driver to the engine. I feel its origonating from above the left side of the transmission. My only concern was the sudden onset of noises. One day it was crystal clear, the next day im getting this plastic knock noise.

On another note, I do feel light pusling in gears 1-3 when maintaining constand speed. How normal is that?

That's definitely nothing to do with combustion issues (pre-ignition, knock/pinking etc).

It does sound a bit uneven and "knockety" from those clips.

I presume it's OK on oil (well you have to ask don't you? )

I'd be inclined to check the throttle balance for a start. It seems to sound better as it's revved up to me, if the balance is out for some reason you'll get all sorts of rattly knocks from the transmission (clutch is right there behind that side cover).

The garage said they balenced the carbs, which i am am pretty sure is the same as the throttle bodies, right?

I'll hook up my balencer just to check though. Everyone always jumps on unbalanced carbs as the reason for problems.

I think it only sounds better reved up because the engine is drowning out the knocking.
