EBC Brake Pads

Bought some sintered pads for my bike (rears).
What are the back plates made of ? I managed to bend one pushsing the pistons back to refit the caliper

I think I might have knackered it, as it put a little crack in the side of the friction material (it closed up again when I bent it back).

Yep you have knackered it!!! What was you doing pushing your pistons back with the new pads in? And what was you using a 2ft wrecking bar? But seriously if you take the cap off the brake fluid reservoir and you should be able to push the pistons back in with your fingers!

Pushed the pistons back, put the pads in. Gap wasn't quite big enough so I tried to push them back a bit more using pliers (a technique I have used for many years without problems).

The back plates really are made of cheese.
