Another rider down...

Just my luck really. I'd gone almost two years without so much as a wiggle on the SV. I traded her in on Friday for a GSX-R600K1, pretty much mint. I pulled out of a junction this morning turning right and the back wheel lost traction as it went over the white line in the middle of the road. The back end swung left, then right before going down. It felt like I was wobbling for ages, but I knew there was nothing I could do to save it. I was fine thanks to my AGV, and the bike is only cosmetically damaged. Cracks to the L/H fairings, the gear pedal is missing, the footrest is bent and the indicators are mangled. At least it went down on the side that already had a couple of scratches. I thought I had a leak but it was just the coolant overflow luckily. I'm not worried about the fairings just yet, and I was going to change the indicators anyway. Just the footrest I need replacing before I can ride it again.

So that's NSR - 2 months first spill, SV - 20 months no spills, GSXR - 5 days second spill.

Bad luck.

What tyres do you have on the bike and what state are they in? I had a similar wobble on an icy patch the other day but fortunately the tyre gripped again quickly and I stayed on. Pilot Powers are good - I suspect that with a lesser tyre I might have had an embarrassing off.

The first was on the NSR in my L plate days, too fast into a corner decided to try the front brake. Never again!

The tyres are Conti Sport Attacks, fitted new from the dealer I bought the bike from, so only about 200 miles use. TBH I saved the first skid, but the back end still had no traction and when it came back to the right I could not stop it. Luckily the left side of the fairing was the side with minor scuffs anyway.

I can see how it looks like I have had two spills on the Gixxer, but I meant second spill ever. Hope that clears it up :)

Unlucky fella.

The weather is a cause of a lot of problems at the moment. I'll be deciding when I wake up if it's bad enough to leave the bike at home or not. I'm hoping not (despite almost dropping the bike when pushing it today - ice )
