Help! Speedo cable replacement
Hi All,
My speedo has ceased to work and i've tracked the problem back to the cable. It went in for repair a while ago and i guess the didn't secure it with cable clips well enough as it's now become squashed between the steering stem and handlebars. Do i need to replace the whole sensor or can i just replace the cable? I have an SV650S K4, the cable leads from the front left wheel into the tank, and then i guess comes back out the same place into the cowl, is this right? Also, where's the best/cheapest place to buy replacements or is something like this best left to a garage? I'm pretty novice but fitted my own exhaust full-system and can tinker happily :D Thanks in advance, Brodie |
Just cut the damaged section from the wire and reconnect, it'll most likely be fine, if it isn't you've lost nothing finding out.

I'm sure I have a cable/sender unit from an older curvy SV, it doesn't have the rotator bit, but if it fits you can have it for a reasonable price.

Cheers Sid,
A good idea, although not sure i can as its in a pretty tight spot and seems like its got a few wires in it? You can see where its caught between the stopper and stem, guess the garage didn't clip it when they repaired it. http://upload6.postimage.org/218071/DSC001231.jpg Thanks Mariner i'll see how much the new set me back and if its a whack i'll be in touch.
