Rubbish Valentines day - Had an Off

I started mine at midnight arguing with the gf and I didn't sleep well as a result. Consequently I was knackered at my 6.00am start for work. Slow reactions and poor judgement in part due to the fatigue, saw me grab a fistful of front brake and lock the front wheel. Thankfully I was away from other traffic and despite some tarmac surfing and the bike skating 100m down the road, both I and the bike got away lightly. The damage to the bike appears largely superficial (thank God for crash bungs). My leathers are a write-off, but I'm just glad I had a pair with hip armour as that was what hit the deck first. Like a champ, I made it into work on time, thereby shameing colleagues who are on sick for bad colds at the moment.

As the andrenalin is wearing off, the pain is getting worse, but it could of been much worse. As it is, just a bit of road rash and some light bruising, no breaks or sprains. A testament to always wearing proper kit and armour.

Bike is in the garage being checked for bent forks/wheels/frame. Fingers crossed, the crash bungs should have done their job...

Bummer - glad you are ok.

Sounds like your GF should be buying you flowers!

Weird, had a rather lengthy row with The Redhead last night as well, then was treated to more moodiness this morning.
Didn't stop the other stuff, though ;p

edit: oh, and bad luck and all that stuff, you can tell I didn't read the post properly, can't you.

I dunno, work is going badly and the garage might ring up and say the bike is a write-off... :D

Ta for the kind words folks.

Yes, I think the argument has paled into insignificance following the crash. ;)

Just a bit sad that I am away with work for the rest of the week (and possibly the weekend, depending on what happens with the bike) and won't be able to patch things up sooner. I think I'd best give her a ring tonight and smooth things over.

Jeez- nasty. Glad you hear that you aren't too badly hurt- fingers crossed on the bike though. Hope you get lots of tlc from the other arf this evening.

Ta for moving this, nice to see my off is only worthy of idle banter.

I'm guessing the title mislead someone as to the content? :)

On a related note, a colleague witnessed another bike accident on the same stretch of road on the way in this morning. I wonder if there was something on the surface, I thought the front locked a bit easily.
