cleaning

seeing as though my bikes erm....
herehttp://web.mac.com/robinmckeith/iWeb...s/IMG_0642.jpg
i may as well take advantage of being able to give it a serious clean.
I've tried autosol but can't shift the furring on the bolts and a lot of the downpipe crap. Does anyone have any methods for this? i've heard of drill adapters, are these any good? any recommendations?

cheers, they're hotbodies flushmount. They don't fit as neatly as i want - and they can't be seen from the front! but i love them! I'm thinking of rewiring the sidelights as indicators too, don't know if its been done yet. There seems to be so much furring on things like the rear shock, bolts, nuts, and even behind the frame. Not good as its only 6 months old!

Down pipes, probably the best stuff is alloy wheel cleaner (careful though toxic stuff) and elbow grease.

As to the bolts, well being cadmium coated, whatever you do they'll just go off again, your best bet is to get hold of some stainless one to replace them, all part of the budget build of the bike.

Cheers Mark.

Your's is in far FAR better condition than mine fella and it's about the same age (maybe mines one month older if that).

I'm looking to replace all the bolts as/when I get chance (chewy's stuff ;)), so that should sort out that.

As for the sidelight-indicator mod, I'm sure I've seen a writeup somewhere on the org for that. I know it's been done before, and SoulKiss was talking about doing the same by adding a ring of orange/yellow LEDs in the sidelight pod.

EDIT: Quick search later, ROCA Indicator conversion kit, here.

found this when playing around on the internet yesterday, seem to be pretty thorough instructions of how to clean every bit of your bike!

If the bolts are furry the ultra thin factory coating has gone and they're knackered, don't waste your time on them. A 200 piece stainless bolt kit is £9.99 on eBay. I'd be getting one and going round the bike changing as much as possible.
