I'm with MCE and I've never had any problems like that. Each time I need to speak to someone I've always got through, and if they said they'd call back...they have.

Not only is it not free, it's premium rate. I bet you get put on hold waiting for an available adviser too. Of course you are still paying premium rate for the pleasure of waiting to actually speak to someone. Naff's me off big time.

I had the same problem with Sky BB. Eventually sent an email and in that email mentioned of-com. They replied via email within two days, I gave them three days to respond or I would contact of-com again. Maybe you could consider doing the same thing.

From now on the first thing I do is check that the available phone numbers provided are not 087, if they are, I'll go elsewhere.

Re: MCE insurance

I have to admit I had horrendous trouble contacting MCE for the year duration of my policy - at first I only had either minor queries or simply needed to inform them of an addition to my bike for cover (eg: adding fairing lowers and wanting them included on in my cover).

But three months in I actually sold the bike and wanted to cancel the policy... could I - could I heck. Took a further three months for them to sort it out due to thier poor track record of actually having anyone to talk to.

Luckily they've never since offered up a competitive quote, cos I'd think twice...

... then check the figures again and factor in the hassle and think again before putting my neck on that block again.

That said, in the interests of fairness, I never had to claim from them - and bearing in mind that (at the time anyway) that was dealt with by a different team on a different number - they may have been top on that front.

I've got the free policy with Express that came with the new SV. Dutifully paid my £30 for legal cover and an extra £30 to get me business use. Certificate arrived without business cover on it...nearly 4 months, 3 cover notes and 2 replacements certs later and they still haven't added it. Won't be using them when it comes to renewal.
