Think iv been caught speeding :(
Pulled out to pass a tw@ on the motorway who was speeding up/slowing down constantly.. as I rounded the next corner there's a police speed check set up on the motorway bridge, the speed detecting equipment appeared to be pointing the direction I had come from, but was above the opposite carriageway.
Long story short, I'd been doing 70-80 for 20 miles, pulled out to pass this git and for less than half a mile I was doing max 95 - sods law! Sitting on eggs now for the next few weeks watching the letterbox  Pete |

if it was above the opposite carrageway you ought to be alright.

They tend to track speeders as the go away from the bridge. That way, they are invisible to the on coming motorist until they have already gone under the motorway bridge. |

Lets hope so :)

I think, more often than not, they would send a squad car to hunt you down from a mobile speed trap.
Could be wrong though... |

These checks will be done on on-coming traffic the majority of the time and the police vehicle can be parked on either side of the carriageway (as long as they can see the markers). One main reason for sitting with the vehicle in view of the on-coming vehicles is that it gives the police a chance to get off the bridge and onto the motorway to pull the vehicle over (they will know before it gets under the bridge if its excess speed) another reason is high visibility patrols...traffic control. If you see a police car on a bridge, slow down, remember its done on average speed, so it may be the difference between getting points or not. Hope this helps. Fraser |
