Brake light not working when rear brake is used..
Just noticed that my brake light does not come on when I press the rear brake, works fine when you pull the front brake?
Could anybody point out a possible reason/fix for this before I take it into the dealers? Cheers, Nick |

check that the brake pedal is actuating the brake light switch - it'll be attached to a wire springy thing (technical term) attached to the pedal/lever

Re: Brake light not working when rear brake is used..
If the spring gets stretched out enough, it will cease to actuate the rear light. There is a screw adjuster to tighten it up. If thats all fine I'd say its just a bad wire/connection somewhere.

the spring is right next to where your heel is and is tiny. . . i lost mine when i binned it and i need a new one or ill fail my mot BUT i rarely use the back break anyway.

I have this exact same problem. It passed it's MOT in December so must have been workin then but I noticed it wasn't working last week so I must have done something when I fitted the full exhaust system. Will have to check the spring on mine! |

Re: Brake light not working when rear brake is used..
Have you tried operating the light by pulling on the switch yet? You should only need to pull it down a tad and you might feel a little click...if it works the light, then you'll probably have to adjust things to make the pedal operate the light correctly. I just did this the other week...when I fitted a new brake pedal...
