Solo Riding & Camping in the North

To cut a long story short I'm after some time on my own for a few days in May and have planned to head out on the bike with a tent and a sleeping bag and a few quid. I'm currently living in Carlisle but was after places to ride to and stay overnight in the North of England. I'm not after doing big miles but rather chilling out in some top countryside pubs/campsites and essentially just chilling for a few days.

So basically I'm after any top places to visit. I'll be going to Tan Hill assuming that I can camp there and will more than likely head into the lakes for a day or two.

Any other ideas will be massively appreciated. Bike friendly ones even more so.

You might to try a little place called Cropton in North Yorkshire just a few miles from Pickering,Forest holidays have a camp site a few(called keldy i think) miles away but the villige pub has a good car park and it brews it own beer in the micro brewery nice for a little stop if your around that way

On a map look at Pickering then you will see to left along the A170 Wrelton and just above Cropton

Just had a long weekend touring (albiet YHA not tent!) through North Yorks - Northumberland - Scotland and Lakes. If it's not big miles you're after try Dufton near Kirby Stephen. Good little campsite and great little boozer. Hartside in the morning for some bend action - isn't too far either!!!..Enjoy.

Cheers for the tips fellas. ON my list I've currently got:

Masham (Black sheep brewery)
The Strathmore Arms in Middleton in Teesdale
Tan Hill near Richmond
Pop in and see my ma!
And a couple of days in the lakes.

Just hoping for good weather now. I'll get some pics and post them on here although I may be on a Ducati instead of the SV by then.
