Strange but True....
 

I have been trying to get some information to a prospective client for days with emails just bouncing with a "This address is not recognised" response.

So I got them to send me an email, which I "returned" and it worked. The only difference is that they use a couple of capitals letters (My.Name@This-Company.plc.uk).

Now I've been using email for a good 12-15 years and it has never made a difference before... So what's changed ??

basically the name can be case sensitive (but rarely is), if the server is set up that way. the @domain.com relies on the DNS system which is always case-insensitive.

Some mail servers are pickier than others.

If they are using one with a Datbase back end for account logins etc then it may be that it is indeed case-sensitive.

Remember to computers

David@x.y.com and david@x.y.com ARE 2 different entities.

Also pseudo-random capitalisation helps stop Spam.

It's the first time I have ever experienced a case sensitive email address...

God, and I've only just learned that I have to spell them right too :D
