tankbank or tailbag?
lets say your going away for the weekend & you can get everything in a tailpack or tankbag
which do you take ? & why? |
Re: tankbank or tailbag?
Tankbag as can stick map in the clear plastic pocket and I think I'd always be worrying that the tailpack had fallen off :)
Plus, missus would probably be on the back and she'd just complain if she had to sit on a tailpack :) |
Re: tankbank or tailbag?
My tank bag converts to a tail pack. If I'm on my own I'll strap it on the pillion seat, else it goes on the tank. I didn't vote cos there's no 'it depends' type option.

Re: tankbank or tailbag?
Tankbag, althought I'm pretty much the same as Luckypants.
Most of the time it'll go on the tank, but it'll also go on the pillion seat. I have an oxford sports tankbag, meaning I can remove the bag from the magnetic part, put the bag on the back & put a map in the magnetic part, if I wanted to do that. |
Re: tankbank or tailbag?
Tailpack.
I'm too short to be comfortable trying to control the bike with that lump of bag in front of me... a full tankbag practically comes up just under my chin... :o |
Re: tankbank or tailbag?
TAILPACK.
I use the oxford 1st time one, and with the underseat strap and a couple of bungees it is well secure. I've had a small rucksack strapped to it with a tent on top held in place with a cargo net and another couple of bungees and went touring for a whole "long" weekend, riding back in 40/50mph winds and rain that would have Noah Shi*ing himself, and it never moved once. Then there was the time I went to work with a magnetic (small) tankbag on which had my bait in it for work (that's lunch to those of you who are either posh or from the south). It sort of came off and fell off while negotiating a roundabout, bounced off a car and went under the wheels of my mates bike. I dunno who was more upset, him cos it nearly caused him to fall off, or me cause it totally ruined my sandwich. |
Re: tankbank or tailbag?
I take you've started packing for AR07 then hovis?
Oh yeah, tank-bag because I've got a seat hump and tailpack won't fit sadly. |

Re: tankbank or tailbag?
Go with the tankbag H, You won't end up doing a kind of hopping goose step to get on, and you won't be worrying that your kits dropped of on the motorway. Oh and don't forget to tie a length of string to your puck.
