Pilot Jets

Hey guys, I recently posted about not being able to run my bike without it being fully choked. Well I finally have some free time to clean out my carbs but I don't know how to remove the pilot jet from the float bowl side of the carb. It's right next to the main jet but my shop manual doesn't say how to remove it. Any suggestions. Thanks.

Should come out with a screwdriver, or just leave it in and blow it through with WD40 etc.

You from the US of A, if so there probably covered over with a tamper proof blank, emissions law and all that, the blank will require carefull drilling to remove. Then you can just unscrew the jets.

Thanks for the replies. The isn't a screw driver slot on the Jet so I just hosed everything down with Carb cleaner and light compressed air. The bike is actually running pretty well now. I'm stoked.

I think you're thinking of the pilot screw (adjuster). The jets themselves should screw out, or if not then just clean them in situ. Stick the WD40 tube in a hole and press, then put your finger over where it came out and press again, keep going till all the passages are cleared (they branch sometimes).
