Rear brake like sensor

Everning,

not often I pop into here but my trusty K5 pointy needs a bit of care and I need a bit of help.

On Thursday morning, just short of London Gateway I got over taken by a fazer as he overtook me he pointed to the rear of the bike, gave him a nod and stopped into services and found that my brake lights where constantly on.

Now I have had an odd problem with the rear brake sensor before so I twisted the rear brake light switch and the lights went out. Checked the front brakes and the lights went off and on again so I know the front's ok.

However the problem is back and sometimes when the rear pedal is pressed the lights flicker than come on.

I intened to take a look tomorrow morning and see if I can work out whats up but can anyone give me some pointers?

I would like to sort this out myself, but is it going to have to go to the garage?

Cheers

Rich

I'm sure you can do it yourself, as you say you twist it and use the adjuster nut to move it closer or further away from the pedal, closer means it comes on later, further away means it comes on earlier.

If you can't get a clean switching action (flickering etc) you could try cleaning the switch but it's probably sealed. A new one wouldn't be hard to fit.

when it flickers you've got it so it is only just switching it on so a little adjustment to go. Mine did that a while back. If it's still not playing ball push the lever down hard and let it spring back a few times, as the switch might be sticking.
