Baffled by baffles
My bike's got a micron exhaust that was fitted by one of the previous owners...a mate's told me that it's not road legal as it hasn't got any baffles...it passed it's last MOT no problems so I didn't think having an aftermarket can was a problem...what do baffles look like??
This might seem like a daft question but I've only had my bike for a couple of weeks and this being my first bike...I've never really spent any time peering into bike exhausts!! :smt003 Ta for your advice! |
Re: Baffled by baffles
Baffles: The bit of metal thats inside the outer ring on your exhaust outlet. If there's no ring there, there's no baffle. Just makes it quieter.
MOTs, some will pass some will fail without a baffle, that's up to the guy that does the MOT. If you get stopped by Plod, they're unlikely to know unless your can is stamped "Not for road use" etc. But yes, it's illegal (legal cans with baffles out are illegal due to noise regulations). |

Re: Baffled by baffles
Sorry, can't help there. I don't think a picture of the contents of my pillion seat would help. :D
EDIT: You show me yours, I'll tell you if you've got (a good) one. (fnarr fnarr) |
