Hit squad out last night
 

Just a heads up to you all. Two of my friends who ride CBR600RRs both had their bikes stolen from outside their houses last night.
One lives in Primrose Hill and the other in Crouch End.

I've a feeling that a **** load of bikes probably went missing last night but those are two I know about.

Most likely a team went scouting around London noting addresses and then they hit everyone last night before the police could get their act together (Police, get their act together? I think that's an oxymoron)

When my last SV was stolen a Fireblade was also nicked from round the corner. Remains were found near the Mucky Duck. suspect they were stolen to order

maybe we could arrange a hit squad of our own and take it turns to parole about in car during nite and catch these scum or maybe follow them home and rob them since police are not bothered wot they are doing then why would they be bothered if we were to do same

A few more worrying details. The guy in Crouch End had a ground anchor and an Abus city chain and he found the remains in the morning. He said they went through it like it wasn't there. The ends are pinched. He reckons hydraulic croppers.
The guys in Primrose hill had only a Datatool alarm fitted at time of purchase by Chiswick Honda and he said he didn't hear a peep from it and none of his neighbours did either.

The old adage rings even truer, if they want your bike, they'll have it.

for the police to get their act together and catch them uick they need to be told they are missing etc...they dont have radars for crime attached to their head, although they can often spot it better than most...

I would be devastated if mine were nicked as i could not afford to replace it. insurance only give you what its worth which is less than we pay for our bikes dont they ? and then theres the waiting and having to do without a bike i hope the *****s are reading these forums cos if they are one day it will happen to them, see if they like it, im no theif but i would nick off them see if they like it, the scum

No need, like most other bike chains those can be cut with manual bolt cutters, by one person, without breaking a sweat.

The Abus is the first chain they break, 17 seconds. Though a thief would be taking less pains not to hurt the bike so could probably do it in less. THe video's made by Almax so there's room for claims of bias, so go along to their stand at the next bike show and have a go yourself, I did and cut through a £170 Oxford in 2 goes. And I'm feeble.

The thieves know this, the magazines know this and the manufacturers know this, the only people who don't are the people still paying a mint for chains that are no deterrant whatsoever to an even slightly clued up thief. 9/10 of all bike chains are junk... Thatcham and Sold Secure are a joke, as are most magazine tests. (though I read that TWO are going to refuse all advertising for chains that are manually croppable... others will continue to recommend chains based on how tough they look.)

Wee bit of a derail maybe, but it's worth mentioning I think.
