Is a k5 exhaust system the same as the k6 ? the reason i ask is i would like to fit a new end can but don't want to hack up the original pipe

The answer is yes because I have just fitted a cut K6 exhaust system and Yosh end can to my K5 ! It fitted perfectly and the job was done inside 30 mins.

yes that way it can be put back to standard if i was to get any trouble with the bike in the warranty period because if you have modified the pipe and the engine was to blow up they could get out the claim because of the non standard parts fitted to the bike

The exhaust forum might give you some ideas but to be honest you ask a hundred different people and get a hundred different answers. A vague consensus seems to be that on the (slightly) cheaper side the Fuel, CCC & Scorpion cans are all good value and good noise. There seem to be a disproportionate number of problems with Blue Flame cans (although, obviously quite a few happy punters too). I'm personally a CCC fan :D

Power gain with a slip on is going to be small/insignificant/non-existent though; ironically it would appear that only full systems with custom matched pipework seem release any noticeable ponies, and even then we're only talking about a pony or two. Personally thinking, I don't think I'd notice anything less than a 10hp difference from a well set up stock, and getting an extra 10hp out of the SV is going to be an expensive and involved process - far less money can be spent on far more noticeable endeavours, like getting it to go round corners or stop better.
