Alarm Fitting Help Please.
 

ok now ive got your attention, i brought a magic alarm system , but im a numpty at fitting anything so if anyone would help me fit the alarm i would be very greatful, i can travel anywhere really so where you live isnt a problem as its cheaper to travel 150miles and back then have a garae fit a alarm for £75.

Bring the alarm, instructions for fitting, and all required tools/wire/insulation tape to the AR at the end of the month. We'll sort you out there!!

If you can't make it to the Lakes I'm sure we can sort something out.

It really isn't that hard. I am an electrical numpty and I managed to get it done. If you get stuck just ring them up. I found them very helpful.

The only tricky part is the immobilisier.

Oh and throw the talking speaker bit in the bin.

im goin 2 try and fit it over the next 2 days (have 2 days off :D) the only problem i have is doing the relay and fuse box cos i have no idea wat to do.

Take the fuse box out & look underneath it. The thick orange wire is positive 12v only when the ignition is on. Look either side of this wire and there's a spare slot in the underside of the fuse box.

These spare slots are hooked up to the same feed as the orange wire (and same fuse). So I stuck a tiny soldering iron tip in there & soldered a new wire in the bottom of the fuse box. Job jobbed.

one more thing when soldering the new alarm wire to the old wire do you
A) cut the wire you about to solder to strip wire and solder all three together
or
B) try and take some plastic coating off the wire and solder on to wire
or
C) (what you did)

Fitting an alarm is easy enough, you take the box in your left hand and open the wheelie bin with your right hand, drop the alarm in the wheelie bin and close the lid. Dust hands together while walking away smiling smugly in the knowledge that it will never wake you at 3am for no reason or immobilise the bike at 85mph in lane 3 of the M25 (yes, I've had both things happen with dealer fitted Datatools).

Alarms suck! The only reason you should be fitting one is if your insurance company insist on a Thatcham approved one, in which case the Meta 357 is the one to have professionally fitted. Save your money and buy some good locks instead.

lol this is very true but i would get me mpney back instead of putting in the bin only costs tenner to get money back .

Use baphs idea and solder next to the ignition (orange) wire. That way the wire will stay intact. I plan to do this when i fit mine.

My alarm has saved my bike at least once that I know of.

I heard it from the office & went out to see 4 guys about to start lifting it into a van. Thankfully no damage to the bike, and the alarm cost me £30.

£30 well spent IMO. Locks can be cut (pretty much all if you have the hardware), alarms take time to disable, and may be heard by someone who actually cares about the bike in question (ie, the owner).
