Rode an SV650S tonight!

Yes I know that might not be much news on as SV650 forum but its been a year almost to the day since I last rode an SV when I traded in my naked K1.

Mrs Skips little brother let me ride his SV650S-X so I took the opportunity to do about 25-30 miles on it on some of my favourite B-roads - and what a hoot it was - I didnt want to come home! Still remembered why I upgraded to the Zed (I am a bit of a speed freak in denial  ) but I remember why I liked the SV so much, such honest power and handling that just keeps you wanting more and more! If I had to be critical I would say that I am glad I went for a naked as I just cant get on with clip-ons - even if the SVS clip ons are the most relaxed I have ever ridden, I am a straight-bars man!

Sorry for the rather pointless post - but I just had to share my enjoyment! :D

Funny, I have a Zed and a SV. If i had to choose one it would definatly be the zed, really looking to getting its suspesions sorted though - is your very soft?

However the Zed has got a puncture and i have been riding the sv all the time for the last 2 weeks. Still enjoy it so much, great bike for the rain as well which seems particually useful at the mo. Definatley miss the power of the zed, i was following a oldish MPV the other day and he gased it, took ages to overtake at 110+, the mpv was actually suprisingly fast but the whole thing was a little embarrsing to be honest.

Yup I find the Zeds suspension very "pogo-y" if that makes sense! I have a ZX636R B1H shock to put on it and would like to get the forks rebuilt at some point - but I have just shelled out for a PCIII and a K&N so cant! I did miss the power of the Zed - I dont think the "S" gearing helped though, I seem to remember my naked SV being a bit "peppier" - also I was amazed at the difference the R6 throttle made - the standard SV throttle seemed to need a lot of twisting to get to flat out!

I still think I made the right choice! :)

I've had many, many bikes over the last few years and only just got round to owning an SV despite it being on the wish list for many years. I should have done it years ago. Cracking little bike. No wonder even Journo's rate them as a great little all rounder!

Sadly I bought an S. I wished i'd hung on and got a naked one as I hate the riding position of the S, but that's just my preference rather than the bikes fault.

One thing in the S's favour is as a commuter for filtering through London's rush hour traffic, with its mirrors pulled in it is so narrow that there are few gaps i can't through. Shame the people following me didn't realise their bikes weren't as narrow!:smt103 :)
