Starting problem........clicky/clicky/clicky
Hello folks,
Had to bump the SV to get home from work (sunny and not to far to push to a hill!:) ). Idiot lights and display all ok, but no sweep of tacho. Press starter and LCD display "breaks up" and the dreaded clicking. Ugh!:( Is this as simple as a new battery or summit else? Anybody have similar symtoms when their battery gave up the ghost? Away to have a look with a Stella and my favourite hammer:p  Any theories to the cause of this devastating news to my wee prescious, much appreciated. K3 pointy 11,500m Cheers Andy |

Thats exactly what mine did when it had a flat battery.
As to why it had a flat battery, was because the Reg / Rec failed and the battery wasnt charging properly. Have a search for previous threads that go into more details as to how to check the charging circuit is working properly before you shell out on a new battery. HTH |

Re: Starting problem........clicky/clicky/clicky
If it's not the battery, take the starter switch apart, spray with WD40 & reassemble (the old Aprilia won't start in the morning trick....)

Re: Starting problem........clicky/clicky/clicky
Cheers lads for being so prompt.............
.....the little bastid started! Tried it 3 times and started no problem. Please god not an intermittent electrical problem! That got me thinking maybe the SV does not do a sweep of the rev counter? (My other Suzi does) Will look into the charging checks. I had reg/rec probs on a couple of previous Hondas but a long time ago. Fingers crossed it is not. £££££:( Ah weel, its another beer then.................;) thanks Andy |

I am religious in the application of the glorious WD40 as the bike gets used daily. Going to do the ignition barrel and starter for good measure tho'. Its the magic spray innit!? Andy |

Re: Starting problem........clicky/clicky/clicky
As Jelster said check the relay, but the SV doesn't, to my knowledge do a sweep of the tacho.
Check the nuts on the battery and starter relay are tight. Be a little careful doing this as if you connect the Positive terminal of the battery or the lead to the starter relay to the negative terminal or the bike's frame using say, a nice shiny screwdriver you get a shower of sparks (Why I know this is probably becoming obvious) |
Re: Starting problem........clicky/clicky/clicky
