yes, unless you have a GB EU style number plate.

I think it can be a bit smaller than the old ones that went on the car when I was a kid, but this is not a legally certain comment.

yeah, its required to show that your not a foreiger, just in a country full of foreigners.

I never bothered the 2 times I took my bike to France. I also saw lots of other UK bikes without them at the ferry port (lots of bikes DID have them though). Never had any bother in France.

They are only a couple of quid so why not get one. I did try but there was nowhere to put it on my bike.

I'm off to France on Friday and I can't be bothered. Don't know where I'd put it either (no way I'm sticking it to the paintwork!). Didn't bother last year when I went to Germany either!

As far as I can see there really isn't anywhere to put it. It's supposed to be visible from the rear but the only flat surfaces at the back are the number plate and the brake light, neither of which you want to cover. Helmet is an option but you're not supposed to stick things to helmets (remember that from your CBT?).
