Girlie needing Help - Zuky is poorly
I last rode Zuky a couple of days ago when it started to rain, I put her in the garage and she was fine.
Came to start her today and she started but then cut out, the revs died and cut out. It does this continually even after revving her, as soon as I take my hand off the throttle she splutters and cuts out. My fella took a look and said it sounds like she is running on one cyliner. The FI light does not come one. Wanted to fit her with a tail tidy I got for my b-day but can't get her to the garage where the tools are, I think she has a back end complex myself but it may be more mechanical than that. Anyone any ideas? Cheers Shell |

You've got water in your front spark plug I'd imagine.
Its an easy thing to fix. Is your bike faired or naked ? |
Re: Girlie needing Help - Zuky is poorly
sounds like possibly abit of damp on the front plug maybe worth pulling it off and getting some wd40 in there. plugs on bikes foul so easy get the front one out and clean it up.

No worries, you think yours is bad :D
Shell, I've just read your signature OK you've got lowers which makes life a little harder, but not impossible. Unbolt the lowers enough to pop them off the mounts, then unbolt the RHS upper fairing again enough to pop it off the mount. Unbolt the bottom mounts on the radiator, and then pull the radiator gently forwards, That should give you enough clearance to get your hand in there and pop off the gromit and HT ( spark plug lead ) off the plug, pull the lead right out. Now get your tin of WD40 a on the right hand side of the cylinder is a small hole, shove the red pipe of the WD40 can up there and give it good squirt and make sure the holes not blocked. Give it a minute or two for all the liquid to drain away and then use the spark plug spanner in the Suzuki tool kit to undo the spark plug, give the plug and the HT lead a good wipe with a dry cloth. Re-fit the spark plug carefully making sure its not cross threaded and you dont over tighten it. Then pop the HT lead back on and then finally pop the rubber grommet back down tight in the little grove you'll find there, you'll know when its gone in as it'll kind of pop into place. Then try and start the bike, should all run fine now. Once you've got it running refit the radiator and the fairings. Next thing is to stop the water getting back in there again as if its done it once it'll do it again. Maplins sell some non conductive silicone grease stuff that you can smear all over the plug and lead to keep it dry, failing that pop down to your local dealer and get a fenda exenda which should sort the problem out. Thanks guys, looks like Zuky is gonna have to get naked at the w/e and my fella will have to become intimate with another woman.
I'll let you know if we can solve the problem. Shell (n Chris my mechanic (hee hee)) |
