New tyres - here we go again!

After some mild pointers from abs & indie at bsb i thought i would post my thoughts on new tyres before i scoot up to strathearn.

Z6's - thats the ones i am replacing - loved them but for the type of roads/runs i do they just aint lasting long enough. eg. long blasts up north. So as you can tell, square off central!

so here's the quotes from strathies.

Z6's £185 fitted.
BT021 £185 fitted
Pilot road 2 £200 fitted.

Really am seriously thinking about getting bt's purely for the fact i will get more miles out of them but need to consider the fact that it's p*ssing down more this year!

Any thoughts on this? if there are any i have missed off please post them up

I have diablo strada and can't recommend them highly enough (same as Z6). BT020 wasn't a grippy tyre in the wet and stepped out or spun up on my bike regularly, maybe the 021 is better as that was a common critism of the 020.

What's wrong with D220's.....?

Got the Z6's at Strathearn back end Feb start of March.

Could be the tyres could be a different attitude to riding, lots of confidence.

It also helps if your tyre isn't squared off ;) .

I try to do Paisley to Newhouse every day, usually avoid as much of the M8 as possible, so far the Z6's are doing well.

Put over 1000 on them ( I can't remember what the clocks at, I'm stuck in the US for the last 5 weeks) and had a puncture repair along the way.

I'm not sure about the wear, I went in to West Coast for my 7K service and was told i have 4mm on the rear. Not sure what they start at from new? That was fromabout 5900 at fit to just under 7k by a few miles.

The Z6 definitely feels more positive than the stock 220 and gives more confidence when turning in.

I can't wait to get back home and get back out. The 90 degrees plus here and lack of rain is kind of spoiling methough.

Cheers
