Er, that's not right!!
I have had a bit of a run of stuff of late ... first off I got a nail in my tyre ... put another wheel/tyre on ... my numberplate snapped that same day ... its about a week later now and I noticed something on my tyre when I went to ride my bike off ... at first I thought it was a bit of tape stuck to it ... but on closer inspection it turned out to be this ....
... http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/b...tyrechunk1.jpg http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/b...tyrechunk2.jpg That's not goood!! ... I guess that explains the bust numberplate ... I must have had a tyre-numberplate interface at some point  ... It's pretty deep, so it has killed the tyre - I'll get round to changing it over at some point (2 dead tyres in as many days ) but bearing in mind I have been riding it like that (blissfully unaware) for a little while now, I'll keep doing so until I get round to doing the change! Its a bit of a shocker and well deep, but hey!! :riding: |
Re: Er, that's not right!!
Spot of superglue - that'll do the trick:D Unlucky at £110 (or thereabouts) a shot!!

Re: Er, that's not right!!
When you got nailed did you have to replace the tyre or could it be fixed?
Just noticed a nail in my rear (tyre) too this morning........ I'm quickly realising that biking is not as cheap as I thought!:( |
Re: Er, that's not right!!
I've done 4000 miles on a tyre like that! (Can't afford a change of tyres yet!) - in exaclty the same scenario. Needed to buy a 7x5 plate to stop it happening!

Personally, I get it done by the manufacturer for free. But that's just because my local tyre shop are nice like that. Blue, all you need now is to hit a stone wrong cranked over in a corner & you're hugging an armco. IMO, not worth the risk, but it's your head. :) |

Although I am not able to tell you my ‘free’ 8) method, an ‘official’ mushroom type repair many garage will do for you are the best bet if the tyre is new (ish) I have run ‘proper’ repairs in car and bike tyres without issue and would not hesitate to run another if I wasn’t even too tight fisted to do that!! :D |

I'll get it changed, but it is right in the middle of the tread ... its most likely to fail when upright ... |

Re: Er, that's not right!!
super glue...im indoors said that too, i told him don't be so silly, mind you the yellow one had a similar hole on the rear, it stayed there for a very very lot of miles and with two up too.i kept expecting it to go but it never did, i couldn't afford to replace tyres at that time and i thought it jolly lucky it stayed as it was
